Project Description

Graduate School of Education
Philadelphia, PA

This project was a 43,000 SF adaptive reuse and renovation of an existing structure originally built in the 1960’s for classrooms and offices.  It included extensive infrastructure upgrades, a revitalized façade, and reprogrammed interior space plan.  Administrative areas were integrated into a larger, more cross-functional workspace; basement level storage was converted into high technology classroom and computer facilities; and three large seminar rooms were added to the five existing along the window wall section above the main entrance.

“EwingCole was extraordinarily successful in transforming an inflexible older building into a newer, state-of-the art facility that meets the needs of our students, faculty, and staff.   EwingCole understood and incorporated our expressed goals into a renovated building that has been heralded as a model of excellence on the University of Pennsylvania campus.”
