Inpatient Hospital Facilities: The Next 10 Years

In May 2007, the American Hospital Association published its report “When I’m 64, How Boomers Will Change Health Care”. The report details how Baby Boomers, as they age, will impact U.S. healthcare. As Boomers reach age 65, they will do so at a rate of over 10,000 per day, or 4,000,000 per year. The report states, “By 2030, there will be more than 70 million Americans over age 65”. This aging population will utilize the bulk of health care resources and represent a full one-third of our U.S. population moving through the health care system and its facilities by 2030.
