EwingCole Healthcare Projects Honored by ENR and AIA
Juror says of Cancer Center: “I see hope here.”
Philadelphia, PA (October 2012) – EwingCole, one of the nation’s leading architecture, engineering, and interior design firms, is pleased to announce that two of the firm’s healthcare projects have each won awards in ENR’s Best Projects of the Mid-Atlantic program and in the AIA Philadelphia Design Awards program. The AIA awards were bestowed on Oct 10; the ENR awards will be given at a Baltimore reception on December 11.
“The diverse criteria of the AIA and ENR reflect the design and engineering excellence that we aspire to as an integrated A/E/I firm,” said Mark Hebden, AIA, president.
The winning projects are the Dale & Frances Hughes Cancer Center at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg, PA, and the Phase 2 Pavilion of the Kent Campus Expansion at Bayhealth Medical Center in Dover, DE.

The Hughes Cancer Center won an Honor Award from AIA Philadelphia and an Award of Merit in the Healthcare category from ENR Mid-Atlantic. The AIA Philadelphia jury commented, “I see hope here. The clarity of glass, white walls, the colors of natural courts, and the attention to detail expresses the science involved in healing. Light is the theme. The warmth of the sun lifts the spirit of patients during difficult treatments for cancer. Well composed. Crisply detailed.”
