NATIONWIDE EXERCISE CHALLENGE | May 2017

A group of employees from all Ewing Cole offices and FRB participated in the 2nd exercise challenge competition that ran from January thru March. There were a total of 33 participants divided into 4 teams (alphabetically organized!) that participated in the 10-week challenge.

The goal of the challenge was to help motivate everyone to live healthier and exercise more. The winning team members were Gerardo DelRosal & Darcy Diaz from Irvine, Andre Haffenden from NYC, Caitlin DiMarzio, Vicky Huang & Christian Kauffman from Philadelphia, and Cole Dreier & Cameron Fen from FRB. The top three overall finishers were Taylor Wright, Caitlin DiMarzio & Ben Nieto from Philadelphia.

A new 10 week exercise challenge will begin in mid-Summer 2017 with NEW teams from all offices and fabulous prizes. A sign up email with the challenge guidelines will be sent when we get closer to the start date. If you are interested in joining the next Challenge please contact Vicky Huang.

BRING YOUR DAUGHTERS & SONS TO WORK DAY | April 2017

On Thursday, April 27th, the Philadelphia office participated in the
‘Take Our Daughters and Sons To Work Day’. We had 35 children take part in the day’s activities which included a tour of the office, a bridge-building competition, a presentation on our Ronald MacDonald House project, a rare tour of the Federal Reserve Bank money vaults, a community-service activity for Ronald MacDonald House, snacks, coloring and a movie.

EwingCole’s Irvine, CA office recently competed in the global CANstruction competition.  Design firms were tasked with designing and building structures out of canned food and other non-perishable items to raise awareness for the hungry.  Over the 12 hour window allotted to build their structure, the team out of Irvine constructed everyone’s favorite aquatic friend, Dory from Finding Nemo/Finding Dory.

On July 27, the two EwingCole softball teams – EwingCole 1 (ranked #1) and EwingCole/Design Blendz (ranked #5) went head-to-head for the final game of the season. A crew of fellow EC staff and supporters came to cheer on both sides teams. It was a tight game throughout, but Team EwingCole|DesignBlendz pulled out a victory at the bottom of the final inning, 13 – 10!

JP MORGAN CORPORATE CHALLENGE | June 2016

JP Morgan RunPiggybacking off last year’s success and due to our offices involvement in personal health, Steelcase teamed up with EwingCole for the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge. But don’t think this is our only recent run as several office mates regularly participate in local charity runs.

 

 

 

 

 

INDEPENDENCE DRAGON BOAT RACE | June 2016

Saturday June 4th saw the arrival of 88 Dragon Boat teams and their supporters to the Schuylkill River on Kelly Drive where the festive village of team tents and amenities blossomed into a full blown river sports festival. Evan Rotenberger, team statistician & hot dog/burger chief flipper, noted we recorded the 21st fastest time of the day – not  a bad testament to the enthusiastic teamwork and determination of our professionals!

PENN RELAY | April 2016

Penn Relay
A EwingCole team ran in the Penn Relays Corporate DMR relay. The team consisting of the fleet footed Vicky Huang, Taylor Wright, Ben Nieto and Scott Nixon. This is the first time that team EC has participated in the Penn Relays and we finished 17th out of a field of 32 corporate teams from across the entire USA. The total race distance was 2.5 miles and the finish time was 13:02.41, which is an astonishing 5:13 min per mile pace! The team is looking forward to next year’s race!

 

BRING YOUR DAUGHTERS AND SONS TO WORK DAY | April 2016

EC Kids at work 2016-04-28 09.32.17An unprecedented 50 daughters and sons of employees came to our office to enjoy a full day’s agenda of activities in celebration of the annual Bring Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day. Special thanks to Roger Rudy, Lori Sanders, Kris Kearns, Dan Meza, Ron Blackshear, Melinda Alker and Jeff Hirsch for helping to lead and participate in a fantastic day of activities. It was great to see and meet so many of the families connected to EwingCole.

 

 

 

 

RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE GUEST CHEF DINNER| March 2016

20160322_182131EwingCole held its third, hugely successful RMH dinner as guest chefs. The volunteer team put together their own menu, did all the grocery shopping, and donated the food to cook dinner for 100 guests staying in the RMH while their child is an inpatient at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
